Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Community-based advertising is an effective approach for promoting health campaigns, particularly in rural areas where access to mass media may be limited. In Kaltungo LGA, Gombe State, health organizations and government agencies use community-based advertising to raise awareness about public health issues, such as disease prevention, hygiene practices, and vaccination. According to Adebayo and Musa (2023), community-based advertising relies on local communication channels, including community radio, posters, and word-of-mouth, to reach target audiences in a culturally relevant manner. This study investigates the effectiveness of community-based advertising in promoting health campaigns in Kaltungo LGA, focusing on how it influences community knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding health issues.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the growing use of community-based advertising for health campaigns in Kaltungo LGA, there is limited understanding of its effectiveness in influencing health behaviors. Many health campaigns face challenges in reaching and engaging local populations, particularly in rural areas where traditional media may not be as impactful. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of community-based advertising in promoting health campaigns and improving health outcomes in Kaltungo LGA.
